Aghhhh I’ve been so bad about posting on the blog on a regular basis and it’s only been about a week! Life is just getting in the way and feel like I’m juggling everything, which is actually why I wanted to write about goal setting and monthly intentions! Everyone sets goals! It’s our way of challenging ourselves and achieving something that is personal to us! When I think about goal setting the first thing that comes to mind are New Years Resolutions. “I want to workout 4 days a week,” “I want to eat healthier”, “I’m cutting out sugar”…blah blah blah. Those are typical New Years Resolutions and while that is a great time of year to set goals, people typically don’t stick with them because it’s too long term or not super specific! Insert…monthly intentions!
What Are Monthly Intentions?
Monthly intentions are the thoughts we have about how our day will turn out. They are the choices we make and the way that we feel that determine how each day will be. Have you heard someone say, “What you put out into the world, is what you’ll get back?”
Does this sound familiar…”Ugh, it’s Monday…I DO NOT want to go to work today! Monday’s are the WORST!” (everyone should be raising their hand because who truly loves Mondays?! If you do, share with me your secrets!)? OR when Friday finally comes around, your thought is, “YES, it’s Friday which means I’m that much closer to the weekend. Can’t wait to power through all the thangs at work.”?
Well this pretty much sums me up to a tee! That being said, I’ve started writing down monthly intentions the beginning of every month. And while we are almost a week into November…I wanted to share my November monthly intentions!
My Monthly Intentions
- Be more present with my family, my friends, and myself : my use of technology and social media has sky rocketed the past few weeks which I think can be unhealthy when you’re spending all your time with your nose in your phone. I want to make memories with the ones I love!
- Start saying NO more often: I am a people pleaser and often take the easy way out! Remember saying no is not a bad thing and it’s honest!
- GET MOVING! :I haven’t done any physical activity the past couple of months but aside from feeling gross physically, I’m also feeling yucky mentally! A simple walk 10 minutes a day or playing in the yard with my dog is what will make me feel good
- Prioritize daily tasks/Organize: Since I felt very all over the place the last couple of weeks I want to take 10 minutes each day to write down my tasks for tomorrow so I can have a productive day! Color coded tabs and to-do lists will be my new best friend!
